• CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
    The commission advises the City Council all matters pertaining to personnel administration; when requested by the City Council hold hearings and makes recommendations on any matters of personnel administration within the limits of such request; hears appeals submitted by any person in the classified service as set forth in the Montebello Municipal Code, and other such duties as directed by the City Council.

    Montebello’s elected officials may not serve on the commission. Commissioners may not serve on more than one commission at the same time.

    Commissioners shall receive a $50 stipend for each meeting attended.

    CULTURE &
    RECREATION COMMISSION
    The commission advises the City Council on matters relating to parks and recreation, human services and other fostering and stimulation of the general arts and cultural development of the City of Montebello.

    Montebello’s elected officials may not serve on the commission. Commissioners may not serve on more than one commission at the same time.

    Commissioners shall receive a $50 stipend for each meeting attended.

    GOLF COMMISSION
    The commission advises the City Council and the Department of Parks and Recreation on a matter relating to the use, maintenance, improvement, promotion and operating the municipal golf course, as well to agreements involving or relating to the municipal golf course.

    Montebello’s elected officials may not serve on the commission. Commissioners may not serve on more than one commission at the same time.

    Commissioners shall receive a $50 stipend for each meeting attended.

    PLANNING COMMISSION
    A planning commission is a group of appointed officials which oversees city planning to consider issues of interest, including permit applications. These meetings are open to the public, and public comment on city planning issues is encouraged.

    TRAFFIC & SAFETY
    COMMISSION
    The Commission considers matters that relate to traffic, parking, signage and the safety of motorist and pedestrians.

    YOUTH
    COMMISSION
    The commission advises the City Council on matters relating specifically to youth. This includes activities oriented toward education, recreational and civic programs, and those activities that pertain to like issues, thus addressing the educational and leisure needs, creating awareness and improving the quality of life for our youth.

    Commissioners shall receive a $50 stipend for each meeting attended.

  • In compliance with the requirements of Government Code Section 54972 (Maddy Act), the following appointment list of the City of Montebello Committee and Commission members is posted on an annual basis by December 31st. The City of Montebello encourages residents to apply for positions in an effort to build an applicant pool representative of the entire community. Commissioners and Committee members serve at the pleasure of the legislative body, must be 18 years of age or older, a City resident, and registered to vote in the City of Montebello.
